The Village of Flat Rock council on May 14 tentatively approved Ordinance No. 130, the village’s proposed fiscal-year 2026–27 budget totaling $3,130,682.
Budget Officer Toner presented the recommended budget materials and moved to tentatively approve the ordinance and the accompanying budget message. Council Member Jeter seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous vote of members present.
The council described the vote as a tentative approval. Council officials said the motion advances the budget package so scheduled procedures and any additional review can occur before final adoption.
Why it matters: the budget sets spending for municipal services, capital work and staffing for the coming year. Vice Mayor and Budget Officer Toner later reported that year-to-date revenues were performing above projections, and he plans a reconciliation memorandum in late June to close out the current fiscal year and to flag any items that would require council action at the July agenda meeting.
The tentative approval came during the council’s May 14 regular meeting; the council did not identify changes to specific line items in the motion. The budget package as presented will follow the village’s standard adoption and publication process.
