Trustees to create missing trust for a sold burial lot after verifying deposit

At the Jan. 5, 2026 meeting, the Chichester Cemetery Trustees identified that a trust had not been created for Madeline Kilmister when lot #138 BL in Leavitt Cemetery was sold. The trustees noted granite cornerstones are set on the lot and that a $360 payment had been received related to the sale.
Trustee Fred Shaw will check with the Town Treasurer to confirm that the $360 check was deposited into the town account and will submit the sale-of-lot receipt and deposit verification to the Trustees of the Trust Fund so a memorial trust can be created. Trustees said it appears roughly $100 of the payment went to Perry Bros. Monument for cornerstones and that $200 should have been submitted for creation of the trust; the trustees will resolve the discrepancy through the town's trust fund process.
The trustees did not specify a timeline beyond instructing Fred Shaw to verify the deposit and make the submission to the Trustees of the Trust Fund.
