District staff described plans to revive the Water Fest (Robinson Lake) and requested a modest budget to support outreach materials and giveaways. Marketing director Russell (presenting as S7) said the event is planned for April 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include partners and vendor participation; staff asked the board to approve a $1,000 line item to help produce deliverables and signage.
The board approved the $1,000 budget and asked staff to create a budget line. Staff also presented a proposal to develop a larger rain garden at Robinson Lake, including volunteer and vendor support to minimize cost; staff and parks representatives identified a shoreline location near the parking lot that they said would intercept eroding runoff and provide public educational value.
Board members voted to give the board’s backing for the rain garden development and encouraged staff to solicit donated plant material and vendor support. Staff will advance the design and coordinate volunteer efforts.
Next steps: staff will finalize event logistics and the rain garden plan and report back on costs and volunteer coordination.
