Board authorizes bidding for 38th Place stormwater project and reissues County Line culvert bid

The board authorized plans and bids for phases 1–2 of the 38th Place stormwater improvements and reissued bid documents for the County Line culvert project; the County Line work will be bid concurrently with 38th Place.
The district approved staff’s recommendation to advertise plans and solicit bids for the 38th Place (Fillmore) stormwater improvement project, phases 1 and 2, and concurrently reissued bid documents for the County Line culvert project.
Staff (S2, S7) summarized that necessary permits (including DNR) are in place, additional property easements remain to be secured for the outfall at Stacey Creek, and pre-bid and bid schedules were set: a pre-bid conference the week of April 30, bid opening on May 7, and a planned award at the board’s May 12 meeting. Staff estimated phase 1 and 2 at about $5.3 million including a 15% contingency.
Board members approved a motion to move forward with issuing plans and soliciting bids for 38th Place (phases 1 and 2). The board also voted to reissue the County Line culvert bid and to run it concurrently with the 38th Place solicitation; staff noted a shorter bid window for the County Line project and a specification limiting road closure to no more than 14 days during construction.
Next steps: staff will publish bid advertisements and host a pre-bid conference; the board expects to consider award recommendations in May.
