New Branson aldermen sworn in; Alex Williams selected acting president

Alex Williams, Glenn Schultz and Ashley Harkness took oaths of office shortly after the Board of Aldermen convened a new legislative session, and the board elected Alex Williams as acting president in a 4–2 voice vote.
The city clerk administered the oaths for the three newly seated aldermen. After the swearing-in, aldermen cast ballots to select the acting president; Williams received four votes to two and will assume the procedural responsibilities of the post.
The session began with formal recognition of outgoing members. Mayor and staff presented plaques and remarks honoring Marshall Howden for four years of service and Ralph LeBlanc for contributions including the initiative that led to the city’s police station. Howden offered a farewell address thanking colleagues, staff and residents and encouraged continued civic collaboration.
City staff announced a schedule of briefings for new members and emphasized continuity of ongoing programs and projects. The board recessed to begin committee work and then moved forward with the evening’s agenda.
What’s next: the board directed staff to draft code amendments on several items later in the agenda and scheduled follow-up briefings for newly sworn aldermen.
