The Village of Warrens Board on Jan. 13 authorized submission of a cybersecurity grant application and reviewed two IT service proposals, while clarifying that grant submission would not constitute approval of any IT services contract.
Trustee P. Malinger moved to approve submission of the cybersecurity grant application with assistance from VC3; T. Swope seconded. The motion carried, recorded as 7-0. The Board’s approval was explicit that accepting the grant application does not, in itself, approve any IT services contract — any contract would require subsequent Board approval.
Board discussion noted two vendor proposals: VC3 and 3RT. Trustees discussed comparative costs, scopes of service, the vendors’ capacity to support long-term IT and cybersecurity needs, and how vendor engagement would proceed depending on whether grant funding is awarded. No vendor contract was approved at the meeting; the Board requested further information and vendor clarifications to be addressed before any contract approval.
The decision to pursue grant funding is intended to offset cybersecurity upgrades and potentially affect which vendor the Village retains for IT support. The Board directed staff to continue evaluating proposals and to proceed with grant submission on the understanding that additional, separate Board action would be required to finalize vendor contracts.
The board’s motion and discussions were recorded in the meeting packet; follow-up will include vendor clarifications and any grant-related reporting or procurement steps.
