Waldo board refers Verizon water‑tower antenna replacement to village attorney

OIC Bruce Neerhof told the Waldo Water & Sewer Utility Board on Aug. 11 that Verizon plans to remove and replace antennas on the village water tower and that the project would be intensive. Neerhof said he had contacted Lane Tank for expertise and that Lane Tank provided quotes on protecting the water tower during the antenna changeover.
President Travis Thomas moved to send the information and quotes to the village attorney for review "to cover the village's interests," according to the minutes. Trustee Dennis Reinemann seconded the motion and the motion carried; the minutes do not record a roll-call vote tally.
Neerhof also noted that the antenna work ties into permitting and coordination: Great Lakes is pursuing a DOT permit for related work at a Highway 57 manhole, and Verizon’s tower work likely will require contractor coordination and possible structural protections. The board took the referral step to ensure legal review of liability, contract terms and protections for the village’s water-tower asset before any physical work proceeds.
The board did not approve any contract or commit village funds at the meeting; its action was limited to requesting legal review of the materials and quotes presented.
