Waldo trustees approve routine contracts, appointments and donation; table subdivision ordinance

WALDO, Wis. — The Village of Waldo Board of Trustees on Oct. 13 approved routine financial and operations items, confirmed new committee appointments and donations, and deferred a pair of land-use measures for further review.
The board approved paying vouchers #16891–16915 and online payroll liabilities totaling $40,941.07 after Trustee Michael Hintz moved and Trustee Dennis Reinemann seconded the motion. Trustees also approved the Treasurer’s Report and minutes for Sept. 8, Sept. 11 and Oct. 6. The board approved a snowplowing contract with Land Steward LLC and a lawn-mowing contract with Fresh Cut Lawn Service. Trustees voted to allow R/C Racing to continue using Memorial Hall for the 2025–2026 season under the prior terms, and approved a $2,000 donation to Adell Fire First Responders for 2026.
During public comment, resident Brian Wimmler asked the Village to inform landowners about planned work at the Millpond before any changes occur. President Travis Thomas reported that someone attempted to break into the concession stand at the park but was not successful; the Village will investigate adding cameras for increased security. Trustee Hintz noted that per the Ferrell Gas agreement, Ferrell Gas will contribute funds toward Depot Street repairs when that work takes place.
On zoning and land-use business, President Thomas recommended appointing Steve Richgruber, Karen Buelke, Jeff Hieb, Becky Bauer and John Port to the Zoning Board of Appeals; the board approved the appointments. The board also approved a Joint Powers Agreement with Sheboygan County for the county 911 emergency system.
The board considered an off‑premises sign on property owned by Brian Wimmler. Wimmler told the board the sign had been in place for more than 40 years; trustees concluded the sign is grandfathered and voted not to require a variance. Trustee Hintz abstained from that vote.
Two items related to subdivisions were tabled for further work: Ordinance 2025‑14, which would amend Chapter 189 (Subdivision of Land) to add requirements including a developer’s agreement, stormwater management provisions, cross-references to professional service charges and updated parkland-dedication language; and Resolution 2025‑13, establishing a parkland-dedication fee‑in‑lieu for subdivisions. Clerk/Treasurer Lisa Gillette explained the missing elements in the subdivision chapter and the board voted to delay action until the November meeting to allow attorney and staff review.
The meeting ended with trustees proposing items for the next agenda — including the 2026 budget, a walkway in the Berry Subdivision to Village Park and possible land options for a new Waldo Fire Department station — and adjourning at 7:27 p.m.
