Maysville declines Lakesite pool lease offer, cites ownership and upkeep concerns
Summary
Mayor Peggy Harwood said the Board of Aldermen will not take over the Lakesite private pool under a lease because the city would not own it, it is not on city property and upkeep would be unaffordable; she will notify the Lakesite representative.

Mayor Peggy Harwood reported the President of Lakesite asked whether the city would be interested in taking over the Lakesite pool under a lease option. After discussion, the board declined. "We wouldn't own it after making all the repairs, not on City property and the upkeep is something the City can not afford," the minutes record; Mayor Harwood said she will call the Lakesite board member to relay the decision.
Board members cited ownership and ongoing maintenance costs as the primary reasons for declining the lease; no formal motion or vote to pursue the pool was recorded.
