Maysville pursues sewer repairs, reports water plant offline; CDBG application underway

City Clerk Pat Fisher told the Board on June 8 that Maysville qualifies as a low- and moderate-income (LMI) jurisdiction and that initial paperwork has been sent to pursue a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to fund sewer repairs. "City Clerk reported the city does qualify for LMI so we can apply for a CDBG grant for the repairs to the sewer system," the minutes state.
Officials discussed scheduling MO Rural Water to perform smoke testing to find points where ground or storm water is entering the sewer system; Clerk Fisher said she will call to confirm whether the city is on MO Rural Water's summer list for testing. The board viewed smoke testing as a next step to define repair scope prior to any grant-funded work.
Clerk Fisher also reported that the city's water plant "has been officially capped and now is completely off line." The status was presented as an operational fact; the board did not take a formal vote on water-plant operations at this meeting.
The board approved purchasing a concrete mixer after John (staff) presented pricing, a move described by members as intended to lower repair costs by allowing small concrete jobs to be done in-house.
