Warrens board schedules audit review, approves school‑zone signs, an operator license and routine expenditures

The Village of Warrens Board of Trustees on Oct. 14 scheduled a special meeting for Oct. 27, 2025, to review final drafts of the 2023 audit and to consider related items including the 2026 budget, trial cameras and disposal of the old garbage truck.
The board approved the purchase of school‑zone signs from Decker Supply at $64.95 per sign (approximate additional cost of $20 per wood post), voting 7-0 to proceed with Option 2. Trustee A. Werner moved the signage motion and Trustee P. Malinger seconded.
Public Works representative Brian Knoepker reported he has received two estimates to scrap the village's old garbage truck; the board discussed the offers and deferred a final decision to the special meeting. Brian also said the water tower painting is progressing and is expected to be completed by the end of the month, with the new paint anticipated to last about 20 years.
The board approved up to $200 for a new desk for the spare office (motion by P. Malinger, second by T. Swope; vote 7-0). The board also approved transfer and payment of bills (motion by T. Swope, second by A. Werner; vote 7-0), and approved an operator license for Shirley Ann’s Café LLC applicant Scott Alden (motion by A. Werner, second by J. Le Mere; vote 7-0).
During public comment, D. Donaldson estimated CranFest turnout at about 200,000 visitors and said it was "a good CranFest overall."
The board convened in closed session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(c) to discuss employee wages; the motion to enter closed session was made by P. Malinger and seconded by J. Le Mere (minutes record a carried vote 6-0). The board returned to open session at 8:38 PM and adjourned at 8:39 PM. The next regular meeting is set for Nov. 11, 2025.
