Maysville aldermen hire laborer, approve records disposal and hold closed session

The Maysville Board of Aldermen on March 17 approved several personnel and administrative actions, including hiring a new laborer and disposing of city records that met the retention schedule.
Mayor Ronnie Pearl called the meeting to order and confirmed the presence of Aldermen Clint Sollars, Darrell Conley, Amy Justus and Larry Zieber. City Clerk Pat Fisher-Johnson and staff members were listed among those attending.
Alderman Larry Zieber moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the Feb. 23, 2026 meeting and the listed payments (Water checks 7143–7153, Wastewater 3655–3663, Street 4612–4619, General 22242–22260, Park 1271, SW 1583 and Payroll 11296–11321); Alderman Clint Sollars seconded and the motion carried.
The board voted to enter a closed session after a motion by Alderman Clint Sollars and a second from Alderman Amy Justus; roll call votes were recorded as Darrell Conley—yes, Larry Zieber—yes, Clint Sollars—yes and Amy Justus—yes. After the closed session the board returned to open session by a separate motion and roll call with matching affirmative votes.
Following the return to open session, Alderman Sollars moved to hire Dustin Miller as a laborer beginning March 23, 2026 at $19 per hour; Alderman Justus seconded and the motion carried. The position was set with regular hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for a 40-hour week except in emergencies.
Alderman Sollars also presented a report of recent maintenance activity (attributed to John), outlining work on vehicles, fence-line cleanup at the frog pond, truck cleaning, lift-station readings and treatment, street work, shop cleanup and other routine tasks including meter replacements and repairs at the water plant tower and ballfield reservoir dam.
City Clerk Pat Fisher-Johnson presented a list of records that had met their retention schedule and recommended disposal under RESM0.109.230. Alderman Sollars moved to dispose of the records; Alderman Darrell Conley seconded and the motion carried.
The board agreed to hire one additional summer helper and to reach out to prior seasonal workers about returning. The board set its next regular meeting for April 13, 2026 and adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
