Maysville aldermen hear update on GNWWW water connection; DNR reports and mapping help flagged

City public-works staff told the Board of Aldermen on April 13 that Maysville began taking water from the GNWWW line last week but experienced a break near the main connection that forced a temporary stop.
Steve Harman reported crews were able to restart the connection at 4 p.m. the day of the meeting and said staff are still trying to locate the overflow point at the small water tower. Casey Flinn also discussed the line interruption during the public-works update.
Board members and staff discussed the city’s plant as a possible backup when there are large breaks on the main line and mentioned contacting the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) about operational flexibility. City Clerk Pat Fisher-Johnson noted the city has recurring monthly reports due to DNR and another report due June 12 that will require assistance from the board.
Steve Harman also recommended contacting Kerri at MAP to correct the city’s mapping system and to help with rate studies. The city clerk agreed to invite MAP to a future meeting.
