Board hears persistent unit ventilator alarms at High School North and reviews boiler, playground and repair plans

A facilities director described the alarms as remote fault signals that indicate the units are "not functioning properly" and said technicians are collecting diagnostic data from the manufacturer. "They're going into alarm, almost daily," the director said, adding that staff are pressing the manufacturer and vendor for diagnostic printouts and resolution.
Board members asked where the units were installed and were told the issue concerns High School North (Site 181, Group 2). Staff said they will not close out that portion of the referendum project until the alarms and outstanding punch-list items are resolved.
Staff also reviewed planned boiler replacements at Intermediate North: the project will require environmental remediation for old insulation and is tentatively scheduled for engineering and construction over the summer of 2025 into the 2025–26 school year, subject to budget analysis. Facilities reported other routine work: 1,431 work orders were submitted in September, with 1,190 completed and 241 outstanding (average turnaround 7.5 days); crews spread roughly 900 cubic yards of mulch across district playgrounds and completed a grant-funded playground at South Toms River Elementary.
Finally, communications staff noted a proposal from a company (Kutami Solar) seeking to lease district land for solar; staff said they would pass the materials to the appropriate office for review and potential bidding.
