Adel Chamber requests use of parking and courthouse lawn for Sweet Corn Festival; board allows parking pending final approval

The Adel Chamber of Commerce requested the county’s cooperation for its Sweet Corn Festival and county staff reported the courthouse construction schedule that could affect lawn use.
Casey Wheeler, representing the Adel Chamber, asked to use three parking locations for vendor parking, place two inflatables on the courthouse lawn for a Kids Zone, and reserve the Administration building as a shelter if needed. Turner Construction’s Chad Lane reported ongoing courthouse construction and said sod will be laid the week of July 6; he said the sod should have time to germinate and that equipment on the south lawn will be removed.
The board gave consensus to allow use of the parking lots and scheduled the lawn/inflatables request to return at next week’s meeting for final action.
