Grain Valley opts to repair Community Center HVAC, funds allocated from park reserves

City Administrator Ken Murphy told the board that Resolution R25-16 is the required first step to begin the budget amendment process for the repair and that the city will contract with Emcor Services to perform work that exceeds routine maintenance. Parks and Recreation Director Shannon Davies said staff recommend repairing failed condenser coils and adding refrigerant rather than replacing the entire unit, citing the sizeable cost of replacement and uncertainty about the facility’s future.
The board approved Resolution R25-16 and Resolution R25-17, and later adopted Bill No. B25-03 (Ordinance No. 2464) to authorize the City Administrator to allocate Park Fund reserves to execute the repair. No dollar amounts for the repair or the reserve transfer were provided in the meeting record.
The actions authorize staff to complete procurement steps and execute the repair agreement; the record shows planned follow-up tasks for Finance and Parks & Recreation to process the necessary transfers and report back to the Board.
