Mount Arlington council approves energy-aggregation agreements, grant application and license renewals

Mount Arlington Borough Council on June 3 approved a slate of routine financial and administrative measures, including authorization to sign Government Energy Aggregation Program agreements, application for a Morris County Trail grant to support McGregor Trail improvements, and renewal of plenary retail consumption, distribution and club licenses for the licensing period beginning July 1, 2026.
Councilwoman Fostle moved approval of the resolutions listed as 2026-87 through 2026-95; Council President Delaney seconded. The roll call recorded ayes from Councilman BaRoss, Councilman Cangiano, Councilwoman Fostle, Councilwoman Galate and Council President Delaney; there were no recorded opposed votes or abstentions.
The resolutions also included administrative bookkeeping actions: canceling prior years' grant receivable and appropriation reserve balances and canceling prior years' capital appropriation reserve balances, and a resolution to cancel future property taxes for a parcel granted a 100% disabled veteran exemption (Block 39, Lot 86). The council also approved a tax refund for Block 97, Lot 19.
An ordinance introduction (Ord. 08-2026) to authorize the cancellation of an unexpended improvement authorization for a revaluation appropriation was introduced and approved for introduction by motion of Councilman Cangiano, seconded by Councilman BaRoss; the motion carried with the same aye roster and no opposition.
The meeting included routine procedural approvals earlier in the agenda: the council voted to approve the May 5 meeting minutes and recognized a volunteer firefighter appointment by resolution. Solicitor permits were granted to three individuals associated with RJW Exteriors. The meeting concluded after a brief public-comment period and department reports.
What happens next: the ordinance introduced (Ord. 08-2026) will follow the borough's required adoption schedule for second reading; the energy-aggregation agreements and the grant-application authorization were approved for staff to execute and pursue per the council motions.
