The Miami R‑I Board of Education on Nov. 19 approved the district’s 2024–25 audit and a package of operational plans and scheduling items, voting unanimously on each measure.
Katie Bell‑Abend of DSWA Certified Public Accountants presented the 2024–25 audit to the board; later in the meeting the board moved to accept the audit "as presented." Les Nieder moved to approve the audit and Melanie Schaller seconded; the vote was 4–0 in favor.
The board also approved a series of administrative items that the district described as routine oversight and planning measures. By unanimous votes the board authorized posting board filing dates from Dec. 9, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. through Dec. 30, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. "per state guidelines," set the Miami R‑I board reorganizational meeting for Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and changed the December regular BOE meeting time to Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
Other adopted documents included the district Maintenance Operation Manual, the Crisis Management Plan and the Literacy Plan. The board also approved a Building Improvement Plan presented by Brittany Nieder and Zech Blaine; minutes record those two as presenters on the plan and show the related motion carried 4–0 after a second.
In reports to the board, the district noted a 64% bus ridership rate for October 2025 and that athletic operations are proceeding with new goals installed in the old gym and additional equipment and scheduling work underway. Superintendent Dr. Daniel Johnson reported Veterans Day activities "turned out well" with an outside speaker, Will Kutina, and said the district has enabled online payments and plans to install a new digital marquee in front of the school.
The meeting adjourned at 4:52 p.m.; minutes were prepared by Secretary Lisa Filtingberger and will be presented for approval on Dec. 19, 2025.
