Santa Fe Springs city officials on Aug. 18 highlighted a busy summer of community events and described a recent rollout of a new electronic agenda and voting system for council meetings.
Parks Director Gus Hernandez recapped the city’s July 3 celebration at Los Ninetos Park, saying the day featured bands, a DJ, two flyovers and a fireworks show. "Fireworks had a turnout of 12,400 people," Hernandez said, and he said the most recent concert drew about 3,300 attendees. He also announced a Concert in the Park at Heritage Park starting at 6 p.m.
Council members and staff praised the new meeting technology. Staff described an electronic agenda system (AgendaLink) and vendor support (Western Digital) that enable remote review of staff reports, automatic camera focus on the active speaker and an integrated voting screen for members. The mayor and staff thanked project manager Kevin and the implementation team for their work.
Mayor Zamora referenced estimated savings from the new system, saying, "258,000 to be exact," when discussing administrative efficiencies and reduced staff time.
The items discussed were presented as informational and celebratory; no formal action or policy change tied to the parks events or the technology rollout was taken tonight. The council did approve routine consent calendar items and confirmed the 2025–2026 weed abatement charges earlier in the meeting.
The meeting also included a walked-on closed session item on potential litigation under Government Code section 54957; the council received a staff report and provided feedback but took no final action in closed session.
