The Santa Fe Springs City Council voted unanimously on Aug. 18 to confirm the city’s 2025–2026 weed abatement charges after a public hearing that drew no speakers.
During the hearing, City staff presented the item and the council opened the floor for public testimony; no members of the public came forward. Council member Rounds moved to approve confirmation of the charges and Council member Mora seconded. The mayor called the roll and the motion passed 5–0.
The hearing required no further debate and no amendments were offered. The council later convened a closed session on potential litigation under Government Code section 54957; City Attorney Bobadilla reported that staff provided a report and feedback but the council took no final action in closed session.
The confirmation of the weed abatement charges completes the administrative step that allows the city to assess and proceed with enforcement and cost recovery processes for properties that do not comply with abatement notices. The council did not specify additional implementation steps at tonight’s meeting.
The council adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
