The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 Governing Board approved ASBA Policy Advisories 906 (Use of Technology Resources in Instruction), 907 (Reporting Child Abuse/Child Protection) and 908 (Student Records) on second reading at the July 8 meeting. The motion to approve the policies and related regulations passed 5-0.
Board members then conducted first readings of a large group of additional ASBA advisory policies and exhibits spanning topics from referrals to other agencies, student fund-raising and discipline, parental involvement, board governance and fiscal management to purchasing, payroll and property disposition. Because the packet was large, trustees scheduled a special meeting for July 14 at 9:00 a.m. to continue review and consider approval of many of the remaining advisory policies.
The board noted several items are new or are being deleted/updated and that staff will return with any required revisions. The special meeting is intended to allow more focused discussion of policy bundles before final adoption.
