The Hackberry Elementary School District #3 Governing Board reviewed progress on an Auditor General corrective-action plan and approved a multi-year audit contract at its July 8 meeting.
Business Manager Sam Dell told the board that staff have addressed 20 of 41 findings identified by the Auditor General and that documentation and process improvements are ongoing; he said he will continue work on the remaining items. The board did not record public comment on the update.
Separately, the board approved awarding RFP 2025.001 to CWDL for a three-event audit contract covering fiscal years 2024–2027, with the board noting future RFPs will be issued for subsequent years. The motion to award the contract passed 5-0.
Board members indicated the district will continue implementing corrective actions and follow reporting requirements tied to audits and state oversight. The audit contract award and corrective-action update are intended to boost financial controls and compliance going into the new fiscal year.
