Hackberry Elementary School District #3 adopted its FY2026 budget during a regular governing-board meeting July 8 at Cedar Hills School. The adoption followed a public hearing in which no members of the public attended or asked questions, and the motion to adopt passed 5-0.
Business Manager Sam Dell summarized the district’s May financials before the vote, reporting that district funds increased by $28,676.70 (about 4% year over year) and the district had a bank balance of $725,496.50. Dell said reconciliations with county ledgers showed no variances and that the district closed May with a positive budget balance of $59,848.07. He noted the district anticipates rolling over approximately $100,000 in Maintenance & Operations funds and roughly $20,000 in capital funds into FY2026.
The board’s adoption occurs as the district prepares for the new school year; Superintendent Christina Ramirez reported that English Learner monitoring requirements have been met and that Back to School Night is scheduled for July 17, 4–5 p.m. Ramirez also said a new special-education department is being developed and staff hiring is planned to support one-on-one services.
Because no public comments were made at the budget hearing, the board proceeded directly from the public hearing to the vote. The district will publish the adopted budget and related documents per standard posting procedures and proceed with implementation for the 2025–26 school year.
