Pat Bowell, representing the Finance Committee, reported attending three meetings on the county tax set-off process with the town clerk and county officials, including County Finance Director Jon Seernan. Bowell said the town asked the county to consider funding the town’s fireworks and was told to submit the request in writing; the clerk will do so. He also said Banner City requirements are met, the committee will work on insurance renewal with LGIT and has started work on the town’s budget.
Why it matters: the county tax set-off process and possible county support for town events affect the town’s revenue and discretionary spending for community programs.
Details: no formal motions or votes on fiscal matters were taken at this meeting; commissioners were informed the written request for fireworks funding would be submitted to the county as directed by county staff.
