The Chair opened the meeting, conducted roll call and led the board through routine business before moving into finance updates. The board approved last month’s minutes and a set of payables by voice vote.
Chair said the city has "received our 1st installment" of tax-increment financing (TIF) proceeds and noted the city must still cover bond interest from the funds but that balances are beginning to recover. He reported this month’s payables totaled about $1,272 and asked the board to approve the expenses; members voted in favor by voice.
With a TIF disbursement now in hand, board members agreed to revisit the TIF "wish list" to identify small projects to begin, including the south-view park. A Committee member suggested that, if tax draws accumulate as expected, the city could pay for some projects in cash rather than issuing new bonds.
The Chair said he will begin the administrative work in July to add commercial properties to the TIF district and will work with staff to produce materials for the board to review next month. He also agreed to gather cost estimates and options for a possible traffic study to inform development near the Ohio Street corridor.
Votes at a glance - Motion to approve last month’s minutes: approved by voice vote (mover/second: recorded in meeting; verbal assent: "Aye"). - Motion to approve payables totaling about $1,272: approved by voice vote (second noted verbally; "Aye").
What happens next: Chair will compile the proposed TIF additions and traffic-study options for the board’s packet next month so members can make formal decisions.
