The City of Douglas commission on April 28 approved a four-item consent agenda that included approval of meeting minutes, a construction bid for a utilities shelter, a wastewater project change order and authorization for the mayor to sign a Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) District 11 ballot.
A presenter asked the commission to approve a bid for an extension (a lean-to) behind the city office to provide an additional vehicle bay after the city received a new bucket truck and lost an existing shelter in a storm. He said "Carlton Bomi had the bid come in at $43,500." The city manager recommended moving forward with the bid.
On the wastewater treatment plant project, the city manager said the original rehabilitation contract issued in August 2023 was about $8.5 million and staff must purchase obsolete electrical disconnect parts to complete the aeration and filter rehab. He said the parts would cost about $36,887.05 to finish that work.
The city manager also read item 1 (approval of the April 14 meeting minutes) and item 10 (authorization for the mayor to sign the GMA District 11 ballot naming Keith Brook, Katrina Felder, Louise White and Melvin Harper for district officer positions). A motion and second to approve the consent agenda were made and commissioners voted "Aye," carrying the motion.
