The Midvale City Council on July 7 unanimously approved change orders for the 2025 sewer rehabilitation project, authorizing the mayor to sign amendments with Nolan and Son Construction Co., Inc.
City engineer Brandon Anderson said public works identified two or three additional problem locations while the project was active and recommended adding them to the current contract rather than running a separate job later. He named Rio Grande Street (6th to 7th Avenue) and additional segments on Grant and Wilson streets to be lined with cast‑in‑place linings.
Council members asked about price and schedule; Anderson and colleagues estimated the additional scope at about $213,000. Council voted to suspend the rules and adopt Resolution 2026‑R‑40 authorizing the change orders. The motion passed on a unanimous roll call.
Staff said the extra work appears on the city's sewer master plan and the timing—while the contractor is mobilized—produces efficiencies. Follow‑up tasks include contract execution and field coordination to complete the added lining before the current project closeout.
