Mayor Dan Carver opened the hearing at 6:00 P.M. City Administrator Deven Markley said questions were received from Joe Schetler of Edward Jones about differences between commercial and residential valuations and explained that "the state sets the rollback amount then county sets the valuations," according to the meeting minutes.
Council member Tracey McAvoy asked that it be noted he did not want to raise taxes and said he wanted to keep the levy rate unchanged from last year at 14.82176. "I do not want to raise taxes at all and want to leave the levy rate the same as last year of 14.82176," McAvoy said.
Rudy Cataldo moved, and Krista Beck seconded, a motion to close the public hearing on the Max Levy Rate for FY2027. The motion carried unanimously on a roll call vote of 5-0. The council then approved a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 P.M., also by a 5-0 roll call vote.
The hearings closure did not, in itself, adopt a final levy rate; the minutes note that official minutes are unofficial until approved by the council and may include corrections at final approval. The record does not show a council vote adopting a specific levy rate at this meeting.
