Public Works announces new Little Crown Creek Park restroom; borough notes composting contractor lawsuit

Public Works lead Jared announced the long-awaited public restroom at Little Crown Creek Park is now open, operating daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jared credited funding support from the Swarthmore Centennial Foundation, Swarthmore College and the Pennsylvania DCED and said the project — nearly a quarter-million-dollar effort — did not use borough taxpayer dollars.
Jared also reported that residents had alerted staff to litigation between private composting contractors; the borough’s contractor was named in those reports. Borough staff said the borough is not a party to that litigation and arranged to meet with EZ Composting (also known as 'Easy Composting') to discuss resident allegations. No council action on the composting program was taken at the meeting; staff encouraged residents to attend the upcoming Public Works and Parks & Recreation meeting to comment.
The announcement included a request that residents treat the new restroom respectfully and reminders about an upcoming meeting schedule and remote participation options.
