The Village of Michiana council approved the 2025–2026 budget on first reading during its May 9 meeting. Council member Tim McCarthy took a roll-call vote recorded as 4 yes and 0 nays; the members present were Tim McCarthy, Brian Cassidy, Mike Botelho and Mike Mumper. Treasurer Tracey McCay said residents who wish to review the budget may make an appointment to view it at the office.
On routine finance business, Tim McCarthy moved that a maturing certificate of deposit at 1st Source be rolled over provided the rate did not fall below a 3.5% floor; Brian Cassidy seconded and the motion passed. Treasurer Tracey McCay reported a Pokagon Fund balance of $47,661.
The council also approved the submitted check register for $48,560.77 after a motion from Mike Botelho and a second from Mike Mumper. These motions were recorded as passed in the meeting minutes; no further budget amendments or changes were made at the meeting.
