The Carlisle City Parks & Recreation Board reviewed project updates and community programming at its March 18 meeting, including North Park improvements, memorial-item options and scheduled community events.
Mason McMillen reported grant updates and budget review for the North Park project and said the disc golf course has been reworked; he is pursuing local business sponsorships for individual holes. The board discussed memorial-item options at North Park, including a plaque, picnic tables, benches, trees, contributions to special park projects, pool chairs or shade structures, and fences or pickleball facilities. McMillen will assemble a 'menu' of memorial options for public use.
The board discussed partnering with FOCP and local softball/baseball boards on a spring cleanup. Members proposed a fall cleanup and discussed holding an Arbor Day celebration in late summer or fall. Upcoming dates noted in the minutes include a spring cleanup for softball/baseball on April 12 and a Summer Kick Off event on May 27.
No formal votes on capital projects or memorial policies were recorded in the minutes; board members directed staff to continue planning and return with more information.
