Angie Soule, chief executive officer of the YMCA of Springfield, thanked the city and described the program’s role in building teamwork, sportsmanship and inclusion across generations. Council members and several former coaches and volunteers shared brief remembrances; teams and youth participants were invited for a group photograph with council members.
The council’s recognition was ceremonial; it acknowledged long‑running community volunteerism and local youth sports development.
The mayor closed the proclamation with gratitude for volunteers and the YMCA’s ongoing work to provide accessible youth sports.
