Dasha Hilsen, chief financial officer, updated the Local Option Advisory on June 17 that the recommended city budget will go to the Salem City Council for adoption on June 22 and that the new fiscal‑year budget is scheduled to take effect July 1.
"We're going to city council for adoption on the 22nd... We'll have a new budget on July 1," Hilsen said, asking members to forward any follow‑up questions about the audit or budget materials to staff.
Hilsen said the committee will receive the final audit findings and related materials in late fall or early winter after the audit process completes. Committee members asked for clarity on timing and follow‑up, and Hilsen said staff plan to return with completed audit responses to this advisory in the new calendar year.
No formal budget votes were taken by the advisory at the meeting; Hilsen's update was informational and intended to orient members before the council adoption.
