Sanbornton trustees approve reimbursements, $500,000 fire‑engine prepayment and library donation

The Trustees of the Trust Funds of Sanbornton met Feb. 23, 2026, at the Town Office and unanimously approved three motions covering routine disbursements and a library donation.
Megan Farkas, chair, opened the meeting at 2:00 p.m. and noted that auditors who visited in January had no additional questions. The trustees then approved the Jan. 15 meeting minutes as amended.
On a motion by Lori Budington, seconded by Megan Farkas, the trustees voted unanimously to reimburse the Town $15,908.65 from the Expendable Trust Fund for Employees to cover unused vacation and sick time, citing Board of Selectmen approval on Jan. 28, 2026. Check 105 for $15,908.65 was signed by Shawna Sample‑Garcia and Lori Budington.
In the meeting’s largest financial action, Lori Budington moved and Shawna Sample‑Garcia seconded a motion to reimburse the Town $500,000 from the Fire Truck Capital Reserve Fund as a prepayment on the executed contract for Engine 1 replacement. The motion passed unanimously and check 3 for $500,000 was signed.
The trustees also accepted a $1,000 donation to establish the Glenn A Smith and Patricia Jean Jamison Sanbornton Public Library Trust Fund. Megan Farkas moved the measure, Lori Budington seconded, and the board voted unanimously to accept the gift; the trustees recorded that the donation would be deposited at Franklin Savings Bank that day.
All formal motions passed by unanimous voice vote; the meeting adjourned at 2:50 p.m. Minutes were submitted by Lori Budington.
