Mateyk said the trustees have obtained three contractor quotes and noted that a 30% federal tax credit applies for work completed before July 4. She explained that part of the array would sit on the 2006 addition, which will need a roof replacement independent of the solar work, and that she had an informal conversation with the Historic District Commission about the project. Selectman Ralph Carter said he is not opposed to solar but cautioned that departments proposing projects out of sequence can alter plans from the Buildings, Grounds & Maintenance Committee; he also noted ground‑mounted panels are often more efficient than roof‑mounted systems. Selectman Glenn Frederick suggested Mateyk consider solar roof tiles. Mateyk said the trustees intend to fund the project directly.
