Fire Chief Paul Dexter told the Selectboard on Feb. 25 that he brought four Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) for the board’s signature, including pay- and status-related changes and one change from full-time to per-diem status.
Selectman Glenn Frederick moved to approve the PAF for Deborah Black as a per-diem employee at labor grade 15, step 2, effective March 1; Selectman Ralph Carter seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Frederick then moved to approve the PAF for Kyle Boynton to change status and increase pay to labor grade 14, step 2, effective March 1; Selectman Deacon seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Frederick moved to approve Steven Poliquin’s change to Firefighter 1 at labor grade 12, step 3, effective March 1; Carter seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Finally, Frederick moved to approve Patrick Goodwin’s change from full-time firefighter to per-diem at labor grade 14, step 3, effective March 16; Carter seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Dexter explained the contract used when the department pays for an employee’s certification previously did not require the employee to remain full-time after the town paid the certification expense; he said that omission has been corrected for contracts moving forward so that full-time employment will be required when the town funds certification. The Selectboard did not change existing personnel who are already subject to prior agreements during this meeting.
