Michiana approves water contract with Grand; EPA review required before Creek project advances

The Village of Michiana Council on April 11 approved a water contract with the Village of Grand and heard that the Creek water infrastructure project must complete a National Historic Preservation Study ahead of EPA review.
Tim McCarthy moved to approve the water contract with the Village of Grand; Mike Botelho seconded and the motion passed unanimously among members present. Clerk Anne Heywood was directed to send the contract to Grand Beach for their council’s consideration.
Separately, Council member Mike Mumper reported the water project on Creek is progressing through preliminary stages, but the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires a National Historic Preservation Study before the project can move to the next phase. Consultant Orbis is preparing that study and will report to the project engineers so the project plan can be submitted to the EPA prior to bidding.
Council members did not take a separate vote on the Creek project itself during this meeting; the contract with the Village of Grand was the formal action recorded.
