The Village of Michiana council approved routine business and a small facilities purchase at its Aug. 9 meeting.
Council approved the July 12 council minutes, the Aug. 2 water minutes and the Aug. 5 Tree Board minutes following motions by Mike Botelho and seconds by Mike Mumper. The council approved the check register totaling $76,517.49 after a motion from Mike Botelho and a second from Mike Mumper.
The council also approved a request by the day camp to purchase and place a shed behind Village Hall for camp equipment. The council tabled an update to the police contract until the September meeting.
During public comment residents raised maintenance and fee concerns: Liz Cutler asked staff to inspect handrails at Stop 40, and Kathleen Hogan Morisson questioned the camp/women’s group rental rate for Village Hall. Council members thanked volunteers for fundraising work on the House Walk, which raised $11,000 from 96 tickets.
