Mumper said the water-main portion of the project is expected to take two to three weeks once crews begin, with asphalt restoration possible by mid-November. The council did not set a final start date at the meeting but discussed aiming to begin work in October, contingent on permitting and contractor scheduling.
The contract approval formalizes the village’s arrangement with Michigan City for water service or related operations described in the motion; council members did not enumerate additional contract terms during the public meeting. Resident Jurate asked for clarification on the water contract during public comment; council members indicated staff would follow up with details.
The council also approved related routine items during the meeting, including minutes and the check register. The contract vote was recorded as 3 ayes, 0 nays.
