Grand Ledge Parks and Recreation Commission reviews Master Plan outreach, approves routine motions

The Grand Ledge Parks and Recreation Commission met June 25, 2026, in the Council Chambers at City Hall and received a staff update on Master Plan outreach while approving routine meeting business unanimously.
Staff reported that student meetings were held in May, virtual stakeholder meetings occurred in early June, a community survey has been conducted and additional in-person community input sessions are scheduled to gather broader public feedback for the Master Plan. The update also noted ongoing park projects, including the installation of a We‑Go‑Swing accessibility feature, work on the Jaycee Park pavilion and a new ballfield adjacent to Fitzgerald Park.
Commission business included a motion by Commissioner Michael Krombeen, seconded by Commissioner Teri Langley, to approve the June 25, 2026 meeting agenda; the motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Teri Langley moved to approve the Parks and Recreation Commission minutes from April 23, 2026, with Commissioner Chris Klaver seconding; that motion also passed unanimously. The commission approved the monthly financial statements as presented and directed they be placed on file after a motion by Commissioner Michael Krombeen, seconded by Commissioner Amber Slocum; that motion carried unanimously.
During the public comment portion later in the meeting, Dave Logel, the City Council liaison, thanked the commission for its work on the Jaycee Park playground. Mayor Keith Mulder also noted the heavy use of the playground by children and families and thanked the commission for its efforts. Commissioners later commented on park passports, the We‑Go‑Swing and the popularity of events at Jaycee Park.
