Medical and mental-health caseloads, wait times discussed at Centre County Correctional Facility
Summary
Facility reports showed high medical contacts and mental-health caseloads, a 2–3 month Torrance waiting list, 16 suicide-watch cases and 12 detox admissions; criminal-justice planning reported 10 overdoses in 2025 and two so far in 2026.
The facility medical-services report presented June 11 recorded 158 nurse sick calls, 97 MD/PA sick calls and 11 outside consults for the reporting period. The report also listed 12 detox admissions upon commitment.
The mental-health report recorded 45 psychologist contacts and 187 total mental-health contacts. Staff reported Torrance placements at two people with a waiting list reported at about 2–3 months. Mental-health stability ratings were given as: A — 37; B — 4; C — 71; D — 23. The facility reported 16 individuals on suicide watch.
Separately, Criminal Justice Planning reported 10 overdoses in 2025 (people aged 36–74) and two overdoses reported to date in 2026. Board members did not take formal action on treatment capacity or on additional behavioral-health resources during the meeting; next steps were not specified.
