Conservation Commission approves two septic filings and issues RDA negative determination

The Pittsfield Conservation Commission approved two septic-related items on Jan. 8: an Order of Conditions for replacement of a septic system at 399 Hubbard Avenue (MassDEP File #263-1256) and a Negative 3 Determination for a leach-field replacement at 23 East Alford Street (RDA #26-01).
Michael Wall of M Wall Construction presented the Hubbard Avenue proposal, noting the property (the former Habitat Re-Store site) will have grading maintained in place and erosion controls installed; there is no city sewer available at the location. City agent Shannon Poulin said the updated plans included trees in front of the property and described the filing as straightforward; the commission voted to issue Order of Conditions 1–30.
Greg Vigna of Trinity Engineering presented the East Alford Street leach-field replacement, which he said complies with Title V standards. The commission issued a Negative 3 Determination with a special condition requiring the applicant to notify the commission or the agent when erosion controls are installed.
Both motions were moved by Vice Chair Thomas Sakshaug, seconded by Commissioner Elizabeth Calebaugh, and approved unanimously.
