Paulding County Board of Tax Assessors certifies 2026 tax allocation district, adopts mission and vision

At its July 1 meeting in Dallas, the Paulding County Board of Tax Assessors unanimously approved the 2026 Annual Tax Allocation District certification under O.C.G.A. 36‑44‑10 and 48‑5‑274, noted no pending public‑utilities appeals, adopted new mission and vision statements (amending “valuations” to “values”), and approved routine minutes.
The Paulding County Board of Tax Assessors met July 1, 2026, at the Watson Government Complex in Dallas and unanimously approved several routine and administrative items, including the 2026 Annual Tax Allocation District certification under O.C.G.A. 36‑44‑10 and 48‑5‑274.
Chief Appraiser James Stokes Jr. presented the certification to the board and provided other updates including staff training completions and a weekly summary of change‑of‑assessment contacts. Member Lydia Rollins moved to approve the tax allocation district certification “as presented”; Member Gary Griswell seconded and the motion carried with all five members present voting in favor: Chairman Johnny McBurrows, Vice‑Chairman Ben Amerson, Members Gary Spinks, Lydia Rollins and Gary Griswell.
The board also reviewed its list of 2026 pending appeals for public utilities and was told there are no pending appeals. Member Lydia Rollins moved to recognize and approve the report; Vice‑Chairman Ben Amerson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
As part of a strategic‑planning update, Chief Appraiser Stokes presented proposed Mission and Vision statements produced from a recent SWOT analysis. The board adopted the statements with one amendment to the Mission — changing the word “valuations” to “values.” The adopted Mission reads: “To maintain fair and equitable property values in accordance with Georgia law through integrity, professionalism, and exceptional customer service to Paulding County.” The Vision reads: “To be the most trusted and respected appraisal office in Georgia.” Vice‑Chairman Ben Amerson moved to adopt the statements; Member Lydia Rollins seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Other items included a staff training/certification report noting that multiple employees completed 20 hours of the Georgia Certification Program (topics: exempt properties, personal property audit) and an operational summary of change‑of‑assessment contacts for the week of June 15–19, 2026 (daily totals presented by Stokes totaled 209 contacts for the week). The board approved the June 24, 2026 minutes at the start of the meeting.
Chairman Johnny McBurrows moved to adjourn at the close of business; Member Lydia Rollins seconded and the motion carried. Deanna Morrison, board secretary, will attach copies of the certified documents to the minutes.
