Kossuth County awards drainage contract to Dornbier Inc., schedules hearings on multiple drainage districts

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors on June 30 approved proceeding with the original low bid and contract with Dornbier, Inc. for work on a drainage-project lateral and directed the county’s engineering consultant to assume responsibility for related engineering matters.

Supervisor Kyle Stecker moved that the county proceed with the original low bid and contract with Dornbier, Inc.; Supervisor Amber Garman seconded earlier motions to approve claims and other items, and motions regarding the drainage contract were recorded as carried unanimously. The board directed Bolton & Menk to take over all engineering matters on Drainage District (DD) 4 Lateral 11 (the Ducks Unlimited project) that relate to the drainage district and instructed preparation of a change order to reflect the price increase.

The board also approved the Engineer’s Report for DD 129 and set a public hearing on that report for Aug. 11, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. Separately, the public hearing for DD 82 Lateral 33B and Lat 40B was rescheduled for July 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The record notes a general discussion with the county engineer earlier in the meeting and an announcement that there was no construction in the county right-of-way at that time.
