Oracle School District board to use separate superintendent and principal evaluations, schedules August mid‑year review

At a special meeting June 16 in the Mt. Vista K-8 School Growth Room, the Oracle School District Governing Board discussed the results of its annual self-evaluation and agreed to use separate evaluation instruments for the superintendent and the school principal.

Julie Bacon, with the Arizona School Boards Association, led the discussion on both the board’s self-evaluation and procedures for evaluating district leadership. Bacon told the board that “it would be best to have two separate evaluation instruments, one to measure effectiveness of the Superintendent roles and duties, and one to evaluate the School Principal roles and duties,” citing the distinct responsibilities of each position as Crystle Nehrmeyer will serve in both roles for the 2026–2027 school year.

The board reviewed areas it identified as strengths as well as areas for growth and refinement during its May–June evaluation. The board and Superintendent Crystle Nehrmeyer discussed the district’s current evaluation procedures and instruments and agreed to complete a mid‑year evaluation in August to assess progress and implementation of any changes.

Vice President Jeri Taylor moved to adjourn the special meeting at 12:30 p.m.; Member Jodi Barczak seconded the motion and it passed with all in favor. The minutes were dated June 17, 2026, and signed by Superintendent Crystle Nehrmeyer and Board President Edie Crall.

The actions at the meeting were procedural and advisory in nature: the board scheduled a mid‑year review and agreed to separate evaluation tools for the two roles but did not adopt a new written policy or vote on a specific instrument during the special meeting.
