Selectboard accepts $17,600 NHDES grant to cover half of Forest Lake milfoil bill

The Winchester Selectboard voted 3-0 on Feb. 11 to accept and expend a $17,600 Exotic Species Program Grant from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services to address invasive milfoil at Forest Lake.
Town Administrator Miner told the board the NHDES grant will cover half of the milfoil treatment bill for Forest Lake; Miner said the remaining half will be split three ways among the Town, the Forest Lake Improvement Association (FLIA), and the Winchester Conservation Commission. Selectman Jack Marsh moved to accept and expend the grant; Selectman Theresa Sepe seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Minutes do not include the total cost of the treatment, contractor names, or a treatment schedule; the board recorded no public questions during the hearing. The Conservation Commission and FLIA will be involved in coordinating the town’s share of the expense.
