The Planning Commission agreed on May 19 to hold a special call meeting the week of May 26 to re-review the site plan for a temporary parking lot at Towers On The Grove after city council discovered the plan had inaccurately depicted the width of a public beach access.
The request came during communications when a presenter asked the commission to convene a short meeting next week so commissioners could take a "second look" at the drawing before the council’s scheduled second and final reading on June 1. "They have since discovered there were some issues with the site plan, inaccurately showing a public beach access as being wider than it really was, which may influence the rest of the design," the presenter said.
The presenter said condo residents near the project had asked for changes to better protect adjacency and that he would meet the site designer the next morning to request revisions and submit the updated drawing for Technical Review Committee review on Thursday. He asked the commission to schedule the special meeting so the item could return to council on June 1 with minimal delay. The presenter said the additional review would add about 13 days to the schedule.
Commission members discussed timing and settled on an earlier start time; the commission agreed to advertise a special call meeting for the week of May 26 at 4:00 p.m. The presenter said he would notify the neighboring project and the applicant that they were welcome to attend the public meeting and expected to forward revised plans to commissioners by Thursday or Friday for weekend review.
The commission’s action was procedural: the body set the special meeting date and asked staff to advertise it; no formal approval or change to the site plan was made at the May 19 meeting. The matter is expected to return to city council for second and final reading on June 1 if the commission acts at the special meeting.
