Board approves 2026–27 master agreement with Johnstown-Milliken teachers and adopts salary schedules

The Weld County School District Re-5J Board of Education approved a negotiated master agreement with the Johnstown-Milliken Education Association and adopted salary schedules for the 2627 school year during its June 17, 2026 meeting.

"We ended up keeping the language the same around class size," Superintendent Nielsen said, summarizing the agreement reached in negotiations. He said teams at the elementary and secondary level will conduct case studies of successful special-education practices, report back to the negotiations team in December and share findings with principals for implementation. Nielsen also said changes were made to Article 50 of the master agreement to clarify HR practices and protections during investigations.

Director Proctor moved to approve the 2627 master agreement between the Johnstown-Milliken Education Association and Weld County School District Re-5J; Vice President Susano seconded. The board approved the agreement by recorded vote.

District finance and HR staff then presented salary schedules intended to fit within the adopted budget. The board moved and approved the proposed salary schedules for the 2627 school year.

Superintendent Nielsen and district staff described the negotiations as collaborative and noted the agreement emphasizes study and implementation steps for special education and clarified investigatory protections for staff. The board recorded votes approving both the agreement and the salary schedules; officials said the actions align with the budget approved earlier in the meeting.
