Taylor board authorizes $5,050 motor replacement, accepts Elm Lane covenant changes and approves multiple permits

At its May 11 meeting the Village of Taylor board approved a set of maintenance and land‑use actions, including replacing the motor at Wellhouse No. 2 and accepting revised covenants for Elm Lane lots.
President Joe Kniseley reported that the motor at Wellhouse No. 2 was amping out and B&M Technical quoted $5,050 for a replacement. Board members said this motor serves the village’s primary well and should be replaced without delay; Steve Roseth moved to replace it and Bob Hulett seconded. The motion passed with five yes votes.
On Elm Lane, the board reviewed covenant mark‑ups presented by Clerk/Treasurer Tammy Weisman. Attorney Radcliffe reviewed the changes and told the board they "looked fine to me." The board voted to accept the covenant changes. The board then set a selling price for available Elm Lane lots at $12,000 with an $8,000 rebate if an occupancy permit is obtained within 12 months of purchase. Kniseley scheduled a public hearing for June 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.; the regular board meeting will follow.
The board approved several building permits and licenses. Motions carried to approve a 12’x20’ carport for Gary Zabel, a dormer addition for Dylan Hedlund, and a concrete patio and fence for Damion and Kayla Thompson. The board approved a 14’x16’ deck permit for Monica Skaar; Julie White abstained because her husband will construct the deck. The board conditionally approved a commercial building permit for Taylor Nest/David Schrandt pending approval from the village’s third‑party inspector (General Engineering Corp). The board also approved an operator’s license for Lesley Moen (P‑Nut Gallery) and a picnic/temporary alcohol license for the Taylor FFA Alumni event May 24–25.
Other business: the board authorized research and purchase of a new podium with an enclosed PA system within a previously approved $1,000 budget, accepted the treasurer’s report, approved bills for payment, and adjourned at 5:52 p.m.
Next steps: the public hearing on Elm Lane covenants is set for June 8; the commercial permit for Taylor Nest is contingent on the third‑party inspector’s sign‑off.
