Articles 14 and 15 raised the local share of school funding. Article 14 appropriated $4,581,918.64 for the total cost of funding public education as described in the warrant; the motion passed by voice vote. Article 15, which increases additional local funds beyond the state's EPS allocation and therefore required a written ballot, passed by ballot with 96 yes and 63 no.
The moderator read a funding summary showing total local funds raised of $7,269,808.30, a state subsidy of $587,148.39, an ESC member allocation of $7,529.40, ESC rental income of $16,687.67, and other receipts that combine to the total budget request. The meeting moved to adjourn after the ballots were tallied.
Officials and residents emphasized the importance of monitoring implementation of the ESC arrangement and cautioned against locking the district into multiyear contracts during the ESC's pilot year; several speakers asked the board to provide periodic reports to voters.
